HamburgKreativ Messe is a craft and creative materials exhibition for fans of handicrafts, handmade work and creative design, held in Hamburg, Germany. It incorporates the Hamburg Cake Show (Kuchenmesse Hamburg) and is aimed at family visitors and craft enthusiasts of different age groups.
Exhibits cover fabrics, wool and yarn, stamps, paper, beads and paints, as well as DIY kits and other craft materials, bringing together wholesalers and retailers; from wool, fabric, embroidery and scrapbooking to beads, stamps, paper and baking ingredients, visitors can browse, purchase and stock up for their next creation on site.
The event features a large number of hands-on workshops, many suitable for children, making a visit an experience for the whole family. Sewing, knitting and other needlework are key areas, with concentrated stands for fabric and wool merchants, sewing machines, appliqué, notions and accessories; jewellery creation is also popular, with glass beads, plastic beads, gemstones, metal beads and jewellery findings displayed by several suppliers, along with introductions to the craft of making silver jewellery from Japanese silver clay. There are also experience content in woodworking, silicone moulds and casting materials.
The Hamburg Cake Show section is aimed at cake creators, presenting creative baking ideas, decorative accessories and making tools around baking and decoration, and organising cake competitions, workshops and an activity stage; competitions judge only design, creativity and handmade execution, focusing on shape, originality and detail. On site there are also activities such as baking show participant interactions, balloon modelling, magic and comedy performances.
