IAMSEC is a specialised conference and exhibition for the military modelling and simulation field, held in Daejeon, South Korea, in its 19th edition.
The event addresses the role and development of modelling and simulation in training ground forces, aiming to promote consensus and knowledge exchange and mutual cooperation among the military, academia, industry and research institutions. It is hosted by the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Army, with organisers including the Republic of Korea Army Headquarters, Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Agency for Defense Development.
Conference content covers the basic concepts and classification of modelling and simulation, including mathematical, physical and process models, and the three types of live, virtual and constructive simulation, and introduces their applications in exercise training, analysis and evaluation, equipment acquisition and joint testing.
The event emphasises the value of modelling and simulation as a practical training tool and a policy analysis tool. It can support training under constraints such as urban environment limitations, site and safety risks, provide training effects close to live conditions at lower cost, and offer scientific analysis for strategic and tactical decisions and force development.
The exhibition includes booths covering technology directions such as military modelling and simulation, robotics, unmanned systems and artificial intelligence, aimed at the military, research institutions and defence technology suppliers, with around 2,000 domestic and international experts taking part.
